ESM 2011 took place in the Stoney Run Watershed, Newport News, VA.  Stoney Run flows into the Warwick River, which is a tributary of the James River.

JRA has worked with the City of Newport News, the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission (HRPDC), the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) and the Center for Watershed Protection (CWP) throughout the planning process.  Projects were completed at the Stoney Run Athletic Complex, Grissom Library, and Denbigh High School.  These projects focused on reducing the amount of rainwater runoff and pollution that is entering local waterways including streamside buffer plantings, building rain gardens, retrofitting existing treatment facilities and installing rain barrels.  We will also held several streamside trash cleanups.
