Volunteers are encouraged to join us at Younger Park in Lynchburg for a trash cleanup. All gear will be provided, but please dress to get dirty. Pre-registration is required.

Tuesday, May 3, 12-3pm; Invasive Species Workshop and Removal on Chapel Island - Richmond
Celebrate Invasive Plant Removal Day by learning about invasive species and help remove them from Chapel Island in the James River Park System. The afternoon will include an indoor lunch and learn portion from 12-1pm to teach citizens about the problem of invasive plant species, our biggest invasive offenders around Richmond, identifying invasive plants, removal strategies, and how they can use this knowledge in their own garden. Bring a brown bag lunch. From 1-3pm, we will put our new knowledge to work and remove invasive species from Chapel Island. Folks are free to participate in the workshop and hands on portion, or just pick one. The training is free and pre-registration is required.

Saturday, May 7th, 2016- Mink Creek Buffer Planting - Scottsville
Join the James River Association to plant native plants along Mink Creek in the heart of Scottsville. Wear sturdy shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty. 
The streambank is steep, so volunteers with sure footing are needed! All supplies, water, and lunch will be provided. Pre-registration is required.

Saturday, June 4, 2-6pm, Westover Lawn Party - Charles City
The Annual Westover Lawn Party is a signature event held each summer at Westover Plantation in Charles City, VA. This event, JRA’s largest fundraiser, centers on family and educational activities, live entertainment, great food and both a silent and live auction. Sponsorship is available at all levels with proceeds from the event going to support the James River Association. Learn more and get your tickets!

Saturday & Sunday, June 11 & 12, James River Rundown - Richmond - Lynchburg
Pick your distance and let's go! The James River Rundown is a series of canoe, kayak, and paddleboard races running through the heart of Virginia, on thehistoric James River.  This is no relaxing float trip. Saturday, July 9, James River Splash & Dash - Lynchburg
The James River Splash & Dash in Lynchburg is a one-of-a-kind 2 mile trail run that includes a flat water tube down the James River.  Participants run down the paved path on Percival's Island, navigate an uneven trail with obstacles of all kinds before hitting the water with a tube. The James River Splash & Dash Sponsored by Riverside Outfitters is a one-of-a-kind 6K trail run or 1 mile walk that includes a flat water tube across the James River. Get ready to navigate an uneven trail with obstacles of all kinds, including rocks, roots, and other natural obstacles.
