February 21, 2015 12:00-3:00pm, Invasive Plant Removal, Richmond
Join JRA to remove invasive plants such as Tree of Heaven (Ailanthus altissima) from a buffer along the James River at the Belmead property in Powhatan County. Wear sturdy shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty. All supplies and water will be provided. Pre-registration is required. April 11, 2015 9:00am-Noon, Trash Cleanup,Richmond
Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay and James River Association are working together to “green” the Bellemeade neighborhood. The Creek runs through an urban Southside Richmond neighborhood, passing by Oak Grove-Bellemeade Elementary School. Volunteers will meet in the parking lot at the park on the corner of Minefree and Gunn Streets, divide into groups and spread out into the park and along the stream. Come help us clean up this watershed and prevent the trash from making it into the James River. To register Click Here.

April 22, 2015 6:30-8:00pm, Rain Barrel Workshop, Richmond
Join the James River Association to learn about the benefits of rain barrels and make one to take home. The event will be held at REI, 2020 Old Brick Road, Glen Allen, VA. There is a $65 fee per barrel which must be paid in advance. If you are a certified JRA River Hero Home the cost is $35 per barrel. Visit www.jamesriverhero.org to register for River Hero Homes. The barrel made at the workshop can count as your River Friendly Practice. Please indicate that you will be attending a JRA Rain Barrel Event and enter “REI” for the name of the event.
