Tuesday, April 15th, 3:00 pm - Water Quality Monitoring Training - Lynchburg
JRA needs your help as a citizen scientist, collecting water samples and recording data to track the environmental health of the River. JRA will introduce you to the types of harmful bacteria, and provide an overview of sampling methods and analysis. Learn more and register for a training session here.

Thursday, April 17th, 3:00 pm - Water Quality Monitoring Training - Buchanan
JRA needs your help as a citizen scientist, collecting water samples and recording data to track the environmental health of the River. Tuesday, April 22, 1:00-3:00pm Great Shiplock Cleanup
James River Association will be cleaning up trash at Great Shiplock Park and along the roadside. Please meet in the parking lot at Great Shiplock in Richmond, VA. Wear sturdy shoes and clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Supplies will be provided. Pre-registration is required. Saturday, April 26, 10 am - 3 pm - Eco Discovery Park, Williamsburg
The James River Association will hold the third annual James RiverFest at the Eco Discovery Park in Williamsburg.  This unique event will include on the water activities, a morning clean-up, fun and educational activities for children, food vendors, live music, kayaking, and a wide variety of vendors and environmental booths. Admission to the festival is free. www.jamesriverfest.org

Saturday, April 26, 9 - 11 am - Trash Cleanup -Eco Discovery Park, Williamsburg
Join us for a trash cleanup the morning of the James RiverFest. The cleanup will take place on Longhill road in between Lafayette High School and Warhill Indoor Sports Complex. Wednesday, April 30, 6:30-8:00pm Rain Barrel Workshop -Richmond
Ellwood Thompson’s, 4 N Thompson St, Richmond, VA. Join the James River Association to learn about the benefits of rain barrels and make one to take home. There is a $65 fee per barrel which must be paid in advance. If you are a certified JRA River Hero Home the cost is only $35 per barrel. Saturday June 7, 2:00 - 6:00 pm, Westover Lawn Party, Charles City
The Annual Westover Lawn Party is a signature event held each summer at Westover Plantation in Charles City, VA. This event, JRA’s largest fundraiser, centers on family and educational activities, live entertainment, great food and both a silent and live auction. Saturday, July 19, 9:00 am – 2:00 pm RiverRats Training - Charlottesville
Training for JRA’s RiverRats program, to be held at the Lewis and Clark Exploratory Center at Darden Towe Park in Charlottesville. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Saturday, July 26 - James River Splash & Dash - Richmond
The James River Splash and Dash is a competitive race and flat water tube. Participants run a trail course, grab a tube, paddle (with their hands) across a stretch of the James, and run their tube to the finish line. After the race, JRA hosts an after party that includes a band, food, beer and more! For more information visit www.jrsplashanddash.org

Saturday, September 13, 2nd Annual "The Tire-less James" River Cleanup - all locations on the James River
Help fulfill the vision of a James River free of spent tires. Select your favorite section of the 340-mile James River for cleanup and register online here: http://www.jrava.org/get-involved/volunteer/tire-less-james.  Volunteers supply their own boats and equipment appropriate for safely floating tires down their selected section of river. Tire removal from site will be arranged by JRA. Learn how you can help the James be Tire-Less.
