April 4, 2015 9am-3pm - Buffer Planting, Powhatan
Join JRA to plant native tree seedlings to restore a buffer along the James River at the Belmead property in Powhatan County. Wear sturdy shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty. All supplies and water will be provided. Lunch is not provided, so please bring a brown bag lunch to eat during the break. Pre-registration is required. April 11, 2015 9:00am-Noon, Trash Cleanup, Richmond
Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay and James River Association are working together to “green” the Bellemeade neighborhood. The Creek runs through an urban Southside Richmond neighborhood, passing by Oak Grove-Bellemeade Elementary School. Volunteers will meet in the parking lot at the park on the corner of Minefree and Gunn Streets, divide into groups and spread out into the park and along the stream. Come help us clean up this watershed and prevent the trash from making it into the James River. To register Click Here.

April 11, 2015 - James River Ecology School Spring Field Day
This is a great chance to see Presquile National Wildlife Refuge and help out JRA! The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) and the James River Association are holding a “Field Day” at Presquile National Wildlife Refuge.  This is your chance to tour the 1,329-acre island refuge without the typical permit requirements. Volunteers are needed to watch over tables, hand out information, walk trails to check for lost people, administer and give instructions for a scavenger hunt or children’s activity. Shift s are okay any time between 9am and 3pm. Wear weather appropriate clothing, bring water and snacks, prepare to walk or stand for most of day, and bring a book for slow times. No skills needed, but having a familiarity with the Island and the Ecology School JRA-FWS relationship is desirable. Must be over 16 years old. This unique event will include on the water activities, fun and educational activities for children, food vendors, live music, kayaking, and a wide variety of vendors and environmental booths. www.jamesriverfest.org

June 6, 2015 - 2 - 6pm, Westover Lawn Party, Charles City
The Annual Westover Lawn Party is a signature event held each summer at Westover Plantation in Charles City, VA. This event, JRA’s largest fundraiser, centers on family and educational activities, live entertainment, great food and both a silent and live auction. Purchase tickets here.

Pick your distance and let's go! The James River Rundown is a series of canoe, kayak, and paddleboard races running through the heart of Virginia, on thehistoric James River.  This is no relaxing float trip. July 11, 2015, James River Splash & Dash - Richmond
The James River Splash & Dash Sponsored by Riverside Outfitters is a one-of-a-kind 5K trail run that includes a flat water tube across the James River. Get ready to navigate an uneven trail with obstacles of all kinds, including rocks, roots, and other natural obstacles. www.JRSplashAndDash.org Voluteers needed!

August 1, 2015 James River Splash & Dash - Lynchburg
The James River Splash & Dash in Lynchburg is a one-of-a-kind 2 mile trail run that includes a flat water tube down the James River.  Participants run down the paved path on Percival's Island, navigate an uneven trail with obstacles of all kinds before hitting the water with a tube. www.JRSplashAndDash.org Voluteers needed!
